Portrait of a new consultant in the consulting team: Meet Antoine Hassler
A recent addition to our team at SuCh Consulting, Antoine Hassler brings dynamism, freshness and ambition to our business.
In this interview, we explore his background, his key skills and his commitment to the continuous improvement of our services.
1 – Can you tell us about your background before joining SuCh Consulting?
Before joining SuCh Consulting, I gained a wide range of experience in different fields, at academic, professional and community level.
After obtaining my Bachelor’s degree in Management at HEC Lausanne, I decided to take a greater interest in the technologies, processes and systems that make our businesses function by obtaining a Master’s degree in Information Systems at the same school. The theoretical and technical knowledge I have acquired means that I can now work in a structured way on a wide range of subjects, at different levels of abstraction, with a holistic understanding of the issues, both strategic and operational.
I also had the opportunity to do a number of internships during my studies. At Deloitte, as part of the Technology Strategy & Transformation team, I was part of a PMO on a vast digital transformation programme, where I was able to develop my skills in project management and monitoring. At the same time, I was involved in various IT Sustainability initiatives, an area on which I wrote my Master’s thesis. My experience with the fiduciary firm FIDAG and the successful cleantech company Enerdrape gave me the opportunity to put into practice my appetite for figures, analysis and the business and financial aspects of a project. These experiences in different business sectors and in companies of different sizes (a multinational, a medium-sized company, a start-up) have made me a versatile and eclectic person. I was able to develop both technical and business skills, skills that I’m now putting to good use in my new role at SuCh Consulting.
2 – What attracted you to our company and to the supply chain?
What attracted me to SuCh Consulting was their reputation and dedication to operational excellence. I’m passionate about solving complex strategic and operational problems and I was impressed by the firm’s reputation in the sector and their track record. It’s truly a supply chain boutique, highly specialised and a leader in its field. SuCh Consulting works with multinationals as well as SMEs, and this diversity of clients appeals to me. What’s more, joining a team of professionals with so much experience and so many different backgrounds was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.
3 – What are your main responsibilities as a supply chain consultant?
As a consultant at SuCh Consulting, I’m responsible for helping our customers to optimise their operational and logistics processes. We work across the entire value chain, from the first supplier to the last customer, including storage, production, distribution and so on. The types of assignment are extremely varied. In practical terms, this means analysing data, developing customised strategies and implementing effective solutions to meet the specific challenges of each company.
Assignments can last from a few weeks for the most strategic projects to several years for large-scale transformation programmes. As part of my assignments, I am accompanied by Senior Consultants who are there to coach me in my professional development. It’s a real form of personal support, designed to help me develop my skills quickly and qualitatively, by passing on the right methods to us juniors. It’s very rewarding!
4 – What are your short- and long-term objectives as a supply chain consultant?
In the short term, my aim is to become a full member of the team and make a significant contribution to current projects. I also want to deepen my technical knowledge and develop specific skills related to the latest technological innovations. In the longer term, I’m aiming to develop my leadership and project management skills so that I can take on more responsibility and help the firm reach new heights.
5 – What advice would you give to people wishing to embark on a career as a supply chain consultant?
I would advise future supply chain consultants to work on both soft and hard skills. Developing a solid understanding of operational and logistics processes, as well as acquiring analytical and problem-solving skills, is a must. It is also important to be flexible, proactive and always looking to learn and improve. Knowing how to interact with a customer as well as with various stakeholders and understanding their needs and expectations is another very important point in order to achieve the objectives set. Finally, I would recommend taking every opportunity for training and professional development to ensure that you keep investing in your own skills, keep abreast of the latest trends and innovations, and stay at the cutting edge of the sector.
6 – What does Antoine Hassler do once his consultancy work is finished?
I think you’ve realised that eclecticism is my watchword. I like the diversity of my assignments, just as I like the diversity of the activities I do outside working hours. What’s more, the region offers an incomparable quality of life, with the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities. Between lakes and mountains, winter and summer, the possibilities are endless.
As a rule, when the ski season comes to an end, I get out my tennis racket for a game of tennis. I understand that the Such Consulting team has a number of enthusiasts for the yellow ball, so maybe we’ll have a competition between colleagues in the future! Let’s hear it! I also play a variety of musical instruments. The drums have been my favourite instrument since I was very young, and I’ve played them on a number of stages in Switzerland, France and the USA as part of various pop, rock, blues, jazz, flamenco and samba bands…
