With over 25 years of international Supply Chain experience, Lionel Pfeiffer has joined SuCh Consulting as a Manager Consultant. Discover his professional journey, his vision of the profession, and what drives him every day.

1 – First of all, could you tell us a little about yourself and your background?

My name is Lionel Pfeiffer, and I’ve spent more than 25 years working in Supply Chain across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. My background is in food engineering, and I hold a Master of Supply Chain from ESSEC Business School. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to lead Supply Chain organizations in very diverse environments.

I started my career in the Supply Chain project improvement area and progressively took on broader leadership responsibilities, managing manufacturing planning, logistics, customer service, procurement, and end-to-end supply chains. I’ve worked on greenfield operations, organizational transformations, network optimization, product launches, and business turnarounds.

What has always motivated me is solving complex business challenges by connecting strategy with execution. Today, as a Manager Consultant at SuCh Consulting, I have the opportunity to leverage this international experience to help clients improve their Supply Chain performance and build more resilient organizations.

2 – As a Manager, what value do you bring to your clients?

I believe my greatest strength is combining strategic thinking with practical execution. Having spent more than two decades on the client side, I understand the daily realities faced by Supply Chain teams. I’ve been responsible for service levels, inventories, production constraints, customer expectations, and financial performance. This allows me to propose solutions that are not only theoretically sound but also realistic and implementable.

I also bring a strong transformation mindset. Whether it’s redesigning planning processes, optimizing inventory policies, improving S&OP maturity, or supporting organizational change, I focus on delivering measurable business value while ensuring that people embrace the changes.
Finally, my international experience has taught me how to adapt best practices to very different business cultures and levels of organizational maturity, which is essential in today’s global environment.

3 – What are the three key qualities of a great SuCh Consultant?

The first quality is listening.

Every company has its own culture, constraints, and objectives. Before proposing solutions, it’s essential to understand the client’s reality and build trust.

The second is analytical thinking.

Supply Chain generates an enormous amount of data, but data alone doesn’t solve problems. A good consultant must identify root causes, connect the dots across functions, and translate complexity into clear recommendations.

The third quality is pragmatism.

Consulting isn’t about producing impressive presentations. It’s about helping clients implement solutions that create lasting impact. Success comes when teams adopt the changes and the business sees tangible improvements.

4 – What makes Supply Chain such a fascinating field?

Supply Chain sits at the heart of every business. It connects suppliers, manufacturing, logistics, customers, finance, sales, and marketing. Every decision has consequences across the entire value chain, making it one of the most dynamic and collaborative business functions. What fascinates me most is that no two situations are ever the same. Market conditions evolve, customer expectations change, geopolitical events disrupt supply networks, and technology continuously creates new opportunities.
Today, resilience, sustainability, digitalization, and AI are transforming our profession. Supply Chain has become a true strategic differentiator rather than simply an operational function, and that’s incredibly exciting.

5 – Can you tell us about your first few months at SuCh Consulting?

Joining SuCh Consulting has been a very positive experience. From day one, I appreciated the entrepreneurial spirit of the company and the expertise of the team. There’s a genuine focus on collaboration, knowledge sharing, and delivering value to clients rather than applying standard methodologies. My first assignments have allowed me to work on Supply Chain transformation projects where I can combine my operational experience with a consulting approach. It’s rewarding to support clients through diagnostics, redesign initiatives, and implementation while helping them navigate increasingly complex Supply Chain challenges.

What I particularly enjoy is working alongside experienced colleagues who share the same passion for continuous improvement and customer success. It creates an environment where everyone learns from one another while delivering high-impact results for our clients.

Thank you Lionel Pfeiffer :-)
